We often conduct survey research to support the development of a client's point of view. Sometimes those results are incorporated into an overall report; frequently we also publish them as a separate survey report. The media are often interested in survey results and they can be an early way to alert the market to findings emerging from a broader study. Below are examples of some of those we have completed for clients.

In 2001, we helped DMR Consulting (now called Fujitsu Consulting) to conduct a survey on the customer relationship management practices and systems in large North American organizations. Some 219 companies participated. The survey was part of a larger study that we designed and conducted for DMR/Fujitsu on CRM in the telecommunications service industry. |

In 2005, we helped Optaros, a fast-growing, Boston-based consulting firm and developer of Web systems, to design, conduct and analyze the findings of a survey on how U.S. companies were using open source software. We surveyed 512 companies on whether they were using open source software, how they were using it, the cost savings they had achieved, and the barriers to adoption. We then helped Optaros produce a report that generated significant press attention, as well as a name for itself as a consulting firm that deeply understood the benefits and challenges of using open source software. |

Granitar was a fast-growing Internet systems development firm in the late 1990s. For this Framingham, Mass.-based company, we designed and conducted a survey of 175 companies and conducted in-depth case studies with 10 others on the unique challenges of building Web systems in Web-based companies. The research helped Granitar open doors and attract more than 60 senior executives to a seminar on the topic. |
